I am planning on getting a new system for my car and i will probably end up getting rockford fosgate 12" p2 or p3 subs and i was wondering if i should stick with rf for amps, speakers, and head unit also?
dear god no go 2 x 12" alpine type X biggest amp MTX makes ... that or PPI if you got the cash. id do the biggest 4 channel MTX amp they got and 2 sets of alpine type X 6.5" componants and a alpine deck but i am bias cuz thats my setup .... sept i got type Rs instead of X cuz they didnt make type x es yet ( we all have are opinions )
if your looking for THE BIGGEST AMP like vd1 says ,take a look at the mb quarts qaa or raa amps, the qaa 4250 - 250w into each of its 4 channels 4 or 2 ohms, they have been tested, and have done well, seems to be one of the better resonably priced good sounding,-real power-amps out there, ive seen them on bay for 400.00 i believe.the alpine type x -vifa- components do well and if found on bay below 200.00 they are hard to beat in that price range,if running 3 way active crossovers on the deck i would not spend the money on typical aftermarket sets and wait till the dayton car series comes out at partsexpress.com or look into diy speaks
see i didnt even know mb quart even made amps.... but iv been away from" car audio" for awhile so i can only speak about what ive seen and heard so yea but he is right about the type X componants hard to beat in there price range. same for there subs as far as i am concerned oh yea and the TRUE POWER AMPS
were always waaayyy out of my price range ... so i dunno about those.

I would have to suggest other than the mbquart amps...
The reason is the HUGE power consuption of these amps. I beleive that the amp take 150 and 200A at full power. This is way more then your car's electrical system can handle.
Using these amps will definitely require an upgraded alternator and battery which is fairly expensive.
If your up to changing electrical system, those amps are complete monsters and will give out unbeleivable amount's of power.
For the woofer, I would suggest going with a Dayton RSS315HF or HO 12" woofer.
These can be found at http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?&DID=7&WebPage_ID=114
They will sound alot better then the RF subs and will definitely be a better value. In my opinion, the best subwoofer/performance/price/output woofer on the market by far. Although I did not do a side by side comparison myself, it is said to play better than a JL audio W6 and Diamond audio M6.

dayton might be good in the hometheater world ... but as far as car audio would go ... i wouldnt use em but thats just my opinion
if i had them and could listen to them .. i might change my mind .. i dunno but for that price ... id prolly go with something else.....

I suggest you take a look at here: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=841
For the 120$ price tag, it's pretty impressive and I would definitely recommend it for car audio.
You can also take a look at the TC2+, Koda 10", Peerless XLS,... Also good buys
