Hello,

Someone offers me some pristine looking tubes in as new boxes.
The boxes are (?) Telefunken and the print on the tubes also. They have plastic black bases.
I am not aware of Telefunken ever produced 6L6GC. I think they must be EH. Fakes? or some badging for Telefunken brand?
Did you ever see any?

I am not sure if original Tele output stage tubes carry a diamond in the bottom as the little ones but those shown to me definently dont bcs I checked. The plates are smooth, rather dark, and the Tele logo on the glass looks great. They told me they got it from German army. Is there a possibility some great US tube was being relabeled to be sold to German army? Everywhere there was NATO I have only seen JAN boxes.

I have nearly all Telefunken tube data books , but there is no 6 L 6 , also not in the list of "comparative types" and no 6 SN 7 , another often asked question .

Well, they did market a 6SN7GT (labled made in W. Germany) over here in the United States and they did label and box American types for sale to NATO, so a Telefunken-marked American-made 6L6GC is not outside the realm of possibility.

John

I would suspect RCA. If side gettered, then for sure. I will check the lot better soon. If they are NOS they are surely collectible. They told me they sounded great in a Twin Reverb. I have Siemens labeled ECC81 but it is RCA 12AT7 black plate, so sure Germans must have imported from RCA.
