Hi
I have had this Technics ST-S4 tuner for awhile now. I have been moving it around a bit and now there appears to no sound output.
It has been under repair from a hifi repair store, before i got it. I noticed a resistor with a dry joint, and one cap looked suspect, i only got 1.0 on the ohm meter at lowest setting and nothing at 1K -20K ohm setting as i was comparing it to lower value silmicII i had spare. Also the legs were loose, and when i moved them it sounded hollow inside = no leaking, just appears dried out
Before buying a cap, i removed a from my spare board a 3300uf 16v cap, to put in place of the suspect cap, original value was 1000uf 16v ??
Should it be okay to turn on?😱

Check out the service manual for the Technics ST-S4 here:
Technics ST-S4 - Manual - Quartz Synthesizer AM/FM Stereo Tuner - HiFi Engine
Do you have some measuring equipment?
voltmeter, oscilloscope?

Hello Kerusker
I have the service manual it appears to be for Technics ST-S4T, not sure what differences it has
I have a multimeter. Its basic but has ohms, volts dc and ac, continuity, diode test. Maybe i can measure dc current? at output? not sure how

Switch the FM Tuner on - with no antenna connected.
The result is white noise.at output.
Check the voltages of the power supply.
Then begin to measure from the output to input to find the faulty parts (of the signal path).
