I guess this is the right place to ask this question, hope I don't make anyone mad or think I am stepping on anyones toes. Question on a laptop LCD teardown
I have been trying to find a good LCD panel for some time and finally got a laptop Epson Action Note 500c that I will have to tear down to make it work. Also I will have to get a scan converter, I think. I am in the learning stage of building a projector, as you can tell. I am afraid to start tearing it down, that I will mess everything up. It would be alot of help it someone could tell me were to start or the right way it should be done. I am good at tearing things up, but I would like to do this project right. I have the case build and the lens, lights, fans ready to put together. Thanks for any help you have.
Thanks Again

It would be best to buy another one.

😀 I guess I would be better off to buy a LCD color projector panel, with all the ports I need. The DIY Store sells them for 149.00 dollars. I tried to buy one I could use on Ebay, but I didn't do so good. I bought a Sharp QA-75 lcd panel and it didn't have the ports I needed so I would have to use a scan converter for it to work. That is why I was trying to get information on tearing down the Epson laptop, it was free. There is alot of old laptops out there and it would be good if they were easy to tear down and use them for making projectors. Somebody should start a book or how-to page on tearing them down. Thank you for your help.

And even if you find a good laptop you will need to make sure that the lcd can be stripped. I have a laptop that has a hyaundai screen that cannot be stripped for use on a projector (there are several boards in the way and the projector screen is GLUED (it appears) together with other things on the back (I have already distroyed one trying to get it apart (thankfully it was already broken and I had the replacement screen close by).
