Hey folks. In a recent found of buying junk off eBay I came across this (which has a TDA1541A) in it:

Just sharing if anyone is interested!

It's one hell of a piece of electronics!
I would'nt call it "junk", built like a tank, Lundahl trafos... wow

Well, junk in that no-one was interested in buying them. Ironically they cost less than the price of a TDA1541A!
Oohhh. For a minute there I thought you were talking about the piece where I bought a whole car because I thought it was a deal for the steering wheel cover ;-)I have found a source for a real TDA 1541 S1, for $183 + shipping...
Ouch..
Gosh if we knew this back in the 80s and 90s this would have been better than a 401k!
:>)
Still looking!!

I doubt it cost $401K. Maybe half that though.Gosh if we knew this back in the 80s and 90s this would have been better than a 401k!

There were the DSR Receiver FT990 and its Grundig counterpart. Had the SAA7220C, I've got 3 of them for a reasonable price (~50€). The FT990 can't deny its Grundig origins, very well made units.
Ah but does it have a TDA1541A, and can they hold your tarps down in a hurricane? There were the DSR Receiver FT990 and its Grundig counterpart. Had the SAA7220C, I've got 3 of them for a reasonable price (~50€). The FT990 can't deny its Grundig origins, very well made units.
I'm more interested to know what's before the SAA7220 / TDA1541A!
Slightly baffled as to what kind of digital satellite audio standard existed back in those days? What region is this from and what was the audio codec?

NICAM was for television audio, analogue television with digital audio in addition to the normal FM audio. I think it started in the UK, Belgium was a pretty early adopter and later most of Western Europe used it - until television turned completely digital.
Edit: I thought the discussion was about the equipment of post #1, I overlooked post #8.

I traced out the schematic for the aforementioned assembly. It's here:

I also re-built one (because someone pinched it from one of the units I bought). Details here:
