Marantz CD85 with drawer switch malfunction and light display illuminating all over...it's dead....the CD player bought two years ago, but I never looked inside. Someone has made a big mistakes inside the machine. Money lost.....
The CD85 was bought because of the "analog" sounding TDA1541A single crown "S".
Which CD player shall I look for to reach the same vintage sound quality?...Denon DCD1560 mkII...or?
Thanks ...........

The philips CD460 sounded good to my ears even though it didnt look like anything special inside, and was just a standard philips board. Funny thing is it sounded much better than my Marantz CD40.
Probably better to use your S1 chip in a DAC these days.

... or an other TDA1541 Philips or Marantz cd player !
Keep the tda1541 s : desoldering it carrefuly at 360° .
This is certainly the ROM of the cd player : the cd player is dead but certainly not the transport parts !
you should plan too look at "Vasily list" and find trying an another tda1541A Philips or Marantz CD player on EBay and swap the dac chip chip with the keeped TDA1541 S
or aways with this S dac chip, send a message at AUDIAL on the blog section about the AYA 2 as Pedja Rodjic is going to plan again in few weeks a second AYA2 2014 issue ! I believe also he has populated boards to be made if you don't like to solder. Buy a cheap cd player with a spidf output then plug into the AYA 2. Here many food cd player as transport : old Philips, Marantz, Pioneer, some Sony.
These are the simple plans if you were loving this dac chip a lot.

Hey, you should look inside, it could be a simple dead fuse or a broken switch. The old cd players can be repaired!, and you can sell the tda1541 for over 50$ on ebay.
