Hi,
One of my units has blown the tweeter and I would like to attempt a repair on it. I'm hoping it's just a fractured wire to the voice coil but the problem is I can't get it open! I've tried to separate the top and bottom with a sharp knife but I'm somewhat wary of cutting at the wrong place, and too deep.
I've attached a pic.
Anyone ever worked on these?
Cheers
Bob

Once I've repaired one of the tweeters I've burned - it was professional workshop, I just paid for services, but the guy said that there could be different wires, not only by size, and also by type - some manufacturers use alluminium coils to get better weight. Just be sure, that you will use correct wire.
Managed to get it apart, no easy task. The bad news is the voice coil is toast so it looks like an expensive replacement. Might watch Ebay for a while in case something more reasonable comes up.
Thanks all for your input.

Expensive?? Really?
I'd be surprised at that Certainly Not free, but unlikely to be prohibitive given the new cost of the Speaker.. complete.
