Hello everyone, I've been a member for awhile, but I just looked and read about all the nice DIY projects you all are doing! I'm a carpenter with no electrical training so tweaking rebuilding ECT. Is out for me. But here's my question I just bought a pair of Tannoy 12" HPDs and want to build cabinets for them, can someone that has built cabs for them or someone that just know the right can help. I've read they need big cabinets to shine. Any info or suggestions are welcome! Thanks for your time.

Good thinking and a good choice of driver.
I assume they come with their crossovers?
Either way here are a couple of Tannoy related sites with plenty of info, history and other people's efforts with Tannoy drivers:
TANNOY Monitor Gold dual concentric speakers

Yea they have crossovers
That's good!
Tannoy DC xovers are very cunning designs which are hard to replicate.
Being a bit of a Tannerd myself (I use K3149s) I used the Thiele/Small parameter from one of the sites and ran a quick sim in WinISD and I think they work well in a 150L cab with a port tuned to 25Hz.
The problem with Tannoys is that if you blindly click for the simulator to give you the 'optimal' solution it is invariably sub par. Why this is is explained in the 2nd link under the heading 'Living with low Q speakers'.
Note that the 150L are net ie internal box volume minus the space taken up by the driver, the crossovers if you put them inside and any bracing of which you want a fair bit.
I would join the Tannoy Yahoo group which is run by the same guy who runs the site in the 1st link. Their archives alone are worth it.
