I do not know if this has been covered in a thread before, but...
In comparison to Tamura , Tango used a lot of "unclear" info and different abbreviations for their (output)transformers
X
XE
FC
FE
FW
FX
CDR
U ...
-does this have anything to do with the material/core/construction/quality ? Info (also on the net) is quite vague...
-which came first : Iso tango, tango,etc.. and what is up with the "new" production of Tango? This is not produced anymore in Japan? What is the quality of the "new" production ?
Any reliable info would be appreciated, cheers all!

Iso Tango was second. It was immediately considered to be inferior to the original. Never owned any Iso Tango products myself.
I am also trying to find more info, I only know the FC serieson https://isotransformers.tokyo/single-ended-output-trans/ are replacements of the XE series.I do not know if this has been covered in a thread before, but...

The performance is not the same, slightly different. looking at the data sheet for FC-20S vs XE-20S clearly the FC-20S has improved high freq response (no resonance at all) However I saw posts saying that the XE-20S can be used with 800V applications and tested to 1000V but no concrete data. While I did hear back from the manufacturer that that new FC-20S is safe to 600V
ISO-TANGO - XE-20S - http://www.tubebooks.org/transformer_data.htm scroll to TANGO
CURRENT ISO-TANGO https://isotransformers.tokyo/single-ended-output-trans/
It's still made in Japan.

And to confuse matters. Also there's another company called WAVAC that calls their line TANGO - also made in JapanI do not know if this has been covered in a thread before, but...

Anyway this is the info I have seen.
TANGO HISTORY
- on 1947 Hirata Electric was founded, TANGO was their brand name.
- on 2000 Hirata Electric was closed.
- on 2000 manager class employees of Hirata established new ISO-TANGO and resumed production.
At that time, the owner of TANGO Brand was Mr Hirata, former president of Hirata Electric.
ISO-TANGO had to pay license fee to use name of TANGO brand to Mr Hirata.
- on 2014 because of health problem of management peoples, ISO-TANGO was closed.
At that time, old Mr Hirata sold license to use name of TANGO brand to WAVAC
Also at that time, Mr.Osawa (President of new ISO TRANSFORMERS) received
all precious HAND WINDING machines from ISO-TANGO.
- on 2016 Mr.Osawa, Design Engineer and Winding Maestro of ISO TANGO have established
ISO TRANSFORMERS and started production again.
Therefore, now there are two completely different transmaker existing,
- WAVAC TANGO
- ISO TRANSFORMERS
- one important engineer Mr Suzuki, who graduated from TDU (Japanese only one top class Electricity university), joined Hirata Electric on 1967 circa.
- before Mr Suzuki joining, products of Hirata was ordinary.
- Mr Suzuki is genius to innovate OUTPUT TANGO and ISO trans.
And yes I can confirm Osawa-san is with https://isotransformers.tokyo/single-ended-output-trans/

TANGO XE-20S
Interesting! So FC = cut core orient hi B , which Tango put on their XE and X (like X10, X5-p or S , etc..) ?
yup, here's what is said on https://isotransformers.tokyo/
quote :
Especially, as to iron-core, the most important materials for Transformer, we have selected ORIENT-CORE manufactured by NIPPON STEEL & SUMITOMO METAL.
All our Output Transformer’s core in particular is “ORIENT Hi-B” Cut-core which is the one and only high quality for OPT so far
As far as i know cut-core refers to the double C-cores and the Hi-B is the material.
I placed an order for the FC-20S. Will post an update once I receive them.

I also notice that the "famous" NC20 interstage is made by ISO, albeit at a much lower price than what old nc20's go for now (up to 1800 eur-!!). The difference between both productions , if there is any, would be interesting to know. From the datasheet it looks like the newer version even has better specs, but what about the real sound? Why are some people pursuing the older version?
I used and measured both Tango and Iso-Tango manufactured NC20 interstage transformers. They measure (and sound) exactly the same. I haven't had a need to acquire the Iso NC20 so can't comment on that.
Just reporting I got the FC-20S. Looks very good and delivery took 5 days from Japan to US. Nicely packaged. Very good customer service and Osawa-San is very helpful with specs and details.
