I'm adding an audio system to my kitchen and have the opportunity to obtain a used Bose Acoustimass 5 system dirt cheap. I like the fact that they're not too intrusive. I'm keen on hooking it to a TA-2020 based amp such as a Lepai or a Topping, but I'm also wary that the Bose system's sensitivity might not be too high, 82db or whereabouts, though I couldn't find the official figure anywhere in the documentation. Any advice or experience on this pairing?
It's 85dB/w/m, and I'd consider that too low. However, since it's probably not going to play party levels in a kitchen but simply back ground music, it might work out fine for your use.
I have (a pair) of 85db speakers and my Ta 2020 amps seem to have the potential to overpower/destroy these.. 12/15 watts is actually a Lot of power.
Dunno how many speakers the Bozo setup is or what efficiency they claim..but from experience, little of their brochure babble can be trusted to.
