A friend on vacation in France phoned me a few days ago. He had auditioned some speakers buildt with supravox drivers and was yelling and yelling , he could not stop praising them..
On impulse I ordered a pair of 215 exc ob and a pair of the 400 exc as well.
I have been devoted to tube amplifier construction and building as a hobbyist for some years, but have little experience with loudspeaker diy.
You may have a laugh at me : I know the combo top of the shelf parts and
Unexperienced builder is not the usually recommended starting point...
Sometimes it's ok to let impulse kick your ***..
Gentlemen : I will acquire the necessary skills and equipment to arrive at a decent result. If you look under diy at supravox website you will find the panneau plan: different drivers, but would it be possible to do something similar with the 215 exc and the 400 exc?
(and a quality driver for the highs?)
When it comes to amps: no restrictions I have some and can build what's needed.

Howdy sheriff - I am just about to build something similar - only with Fertin 38EX 15" for bass duty, and the new 8" "fullrange" on top! Both field coil, and OB, of course...
Maybe we should have a speaker build-off, OCC style...

If I got it right as baffle size goes down effeciency demand on bass driver goes up.
(assuming passive crossover)
With the supravoxes at hand should I aim at using a separate amp for the 400 exc
Or is it possible to get away with a passive filter and one amp and keep the baffle about the size of the panneau plan?
How low do you think I should cross the 215 exc (for a start)
Dc supplies for the coils recommandations?

He.. never left, really, at least not here! Just decided to take a break from all those f.#@!!!n' A$%#@es who stunk up our beloved HFS for a while.. Anyway, I haven't studied those Supravox drivers for a whilse, so I need to read a bit first. But basically, it is possible to get away with one amp as such, if the drivers are not too far apart in sensitivity. I will be playing around with a variety of solutions, one amp, two amps and Firstwatt B4 and B5 xovers, two amps and passive line level filters etc. Baffle inserts for mid/treble will be interchangeable so I can try out a few different drivers , as well as testing the (possible) effect of assymetric mounting. Decent PS is already in the planning, I do not trust those smps boxes for longer distances than I can throw an elephant these days... Let's meet when you are tired of exploiting those Greeks!

i managed to make superb power supply for supravox 215exc. can make one ~2000 eur .
beats car battery no problem. has speed ,dynamics, clarity... for comparision car battery is syruply,slow,dark, no hights.. bass is boomy. in other word battery is bad choice...
