(Super)Tweeter for W5-2106 full-range

I have a TL speaker with Tang Band W5-2106 full-range and thinking about either converting it to a standard 2-way or just add a helper super-tweeter since there's something missing at the top end 🙂

The main problem is that I can only do a surface-mount so the only solution I see is to make a custom thin front plate for a tweeter. One of the candidates is Dayton Audio AMT Mini-8, with either first-order high-pass or a proper cross-over at 5KHz.

Like this one much better: though some would say it looks weird, others will find polite sounding, some even too polite...😀

May be you might show some measurements with and without eq...🙄

Btw, eq cannot fix directivity issues, and not all 4'/5' drivers behave the same, cone profiles also matter, etc...

Anyway DRC should help...

Well, the HF does not have any kind of fall off and off-axis response is quite good.

Don't know what good means by your standards, but good measurements and bad sound make no sense by mine...

Btw, the Alpair-7 looks good, meaning good rising response, the TB dont, too shy...

PD: Another question is that manufacturers are too shy to publish curves with an alarmingly rising trend: customers have no idea that it's a good feature for a full ranger and don't buy. Lowther and other wise guys, FR specialists, don't publish curves, or carefully photoshop them...

Some measurements with an uncalibrated mic.

Right speaker, no DRC from 0 to about 40 degrees:

The room has zero sound treatment so it might not be the speakers fault that something is missing sound-wise. Thanks for your feeback, guys! 🙂
