Hi everyone. Gershwin's Summertime is the most covered song in the world, please post a version 🙂
I'll kick off with a very laid back one from........Booker T. & the MG's - Summertime - YouTube

That's a nice version alright. Didn't even know he did it.
I don't have version to add but isn't Yesterday the most covered song and isn't Silent Night number 2?

This is quite a contrast to Booker T's version, very percussive and typically enigmatic Charles Mingus - Summertime - YouTube
These are a few of my favorite Summertimes.

I’ve always loved the mungo jerry version. 😀 Mungo Jerry - In The Summertime ORIGINAL 1970 - YouTube
Apparantly according to one list it's only the 6th most covered song of all time...
I quite like the Larry Adler and Peter Gabriel version.

Here's Paul McCartney's interpretation of Summertime.

Haha, nice one 😉
There are some great suggestions, thanks folks.

A long time ago during a jazz festival in my hometown (Haarlem Jazzstad), for one evening, one stage was dedicated to different version's of Summertime. The weirdest was Elektrik Hannes's version, as he didn't use any of the music and only fragments of the lyrics. Unfortunately there aren't any recordings of it, as far as I know.
Victor - thanks for the shout out to Eva. Didn’t she just have a knack for making even the tiredest old chestnut sound fresh? “Autumn Leaves”, “Over the Rainbow”, “Danny Boy” etc.
And for an interesting mashup of styles you wouldn’t think should work, there’s always Jacqui Naylor.

My favourite is Miles Davis:

And the 1991 Montreux Jazz Concert with the QJ Orchestra and Kenny Garrett on alto solo was wonderful as well.
