I was wondering if anyone has a view please on whether it is possible a sub amp failure could have also possibly have blown a HDMI output on my AV amplifier please ?
I have racked my brains and can't think of any real feasible scenarios and it would be a big coincidence if both failed within the same hour
SVS sub (PC-13 Ultra with Sledge amp), TV (60ZT Plasma) connected to one wall socket via a surge protector
otherside of room different wall socket - Denon AV Amplifier (7200W) also connected to a surge protector
turn off both at wall overnight - today turned on the av amp socket first, then the svs/plasma socket
connections as follows:
Subwoofer to AV Amp - phono line-level audio
Amp to TV - HDMI
on turning on the 2nd socket there was a pop and I think I caught a glimpse of a flash corner of my eye - and the SVS won't turn on. I disconnected the RCA to amp, changed fuse tried again and instantly seemed to pop
these things happen I'll have to order a new amp plate
but then I went to use the AV amp - and no video, tried multiple hdmis on TV nothing, it was only when I switched to HDMI output 2 on the Denon (thankfully it has 2 outputs and I was only using one) - the 2nd output works
so it doesn't happen again - is there any way a failure of the amp plate could have affected one of the HDMI outputs on the AV amp please ?
I thought some odd signal back into the amp via the phono audio cable - but I can't see how would only affect one hdmi out the rest of the amp seems to work fine, audio is working, menus working etc
or the HDMI output on the Denon has blown due to something odd happening at the TV end - as connected to same surge protector as the Subwoofer - some spike when amp blew went through the TV and affected the HDMI input which did something odd to the HDMI out on the Denon AV Amplifier ?
I'm a bit baffled so any help much appreciated
I opened up the amp - nothing obvious initially except for slight odd discolouration around the glue on the screws ? could be normal though I think the amp plate is around 7-8 years old. Please see attached
many many thanks for any help
