first and foremost, i don’t want to install a new amp, max box size will be 6 cu. ft. So here is what we are working with 40 watts rms @ 2 ohms. the stock sub sits on the rear deck and so the wires are easily accessible in the trunk. ill just clip the wire and leave the stock sub there unpowered. so we are limited by either excursion, available power, and to some extent box size. my goal is to get down to 35 hz at 100 db in the drivers seat, or just better sounding than stock. this is the best ive come up with so far...
[speakers](GRS 10SW-4 10" Poly Cone Subwoofer 4 Ohm)
so ill wire 2 of them in parallel to get 2 ohms. the box will be 6 cu.ft. tuned to 35hz. on speaker box lite that gives a nice +3db hump from 40hz to 60hz. the excursion limit at 40 hz is 110-112db. the power limits the db to 105db, thats the best guess at least.
is this all crazy talk? will it be loud enough for just general music enjoyment by the time i factor in some cabin gain? moving up to the 12’s in the same speaker gets me a 6db box boost at the same size and tuning.
