I have a 2.1 Audio System. Since a few months the subwoofer is producing a buzz noise Instead of giving bass. It is happening if i increase the bass. At a loww bass level it is fine. But if i increase bass beyond 25% then it starts buzzing. I attached a clip of what it sounds like at high bass (50%).
Any pointers on what the problem might be.
I can post pictures of the circuit inside if required.

um, your sub is toast. You probably have some thrown voice coil. The driver just has to move far enough to get it to rub.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
I had the same issue on one of my 8"s and found this

That's a shame, appears the voice coil glue to former joint can't take the heat, the voice coil is not "cooked" at all.
Quite a long voice coil, what model 8" woofer is that?

Skar vvx8", it's rated at 400rms but I have an audioque 3500 at .05 on 8 of them. Great little subs but when you test there limits you find the weak ones quick lol. Good thing I have back ups 🙂
Here some woofer porn, I know every one likes a little air movement ;-)

Plenty of car shake, and perhaps the most horribly distorted video I have ever heard 😀.

Not a problem, the video was shot from a phone lol that could of been the issue lol
Most speakers can be re-coned, which replaces all the moving parts. So can it be repaired or not? If yes then what should i be looking at?
Thanks for your answers
Most major cities have at least one re-cone shop, and will accept shipped baskets for re-cone.
Re-coning can exceed the cost of a new, cheap speaker, and also be considerably cheaper than replacing an expensive speaker.
Re-coning can be learned, just like motor or engine rebuilding.
I have learned how to recone, but unless I was not concerned with the outcome, I'd pay an expert to do it.

Could also be simply a failed capacitor in the crossover.
Check for that before throwing away speaker. ...
