Can someone recommend me a cube enclosure sub + amp to accompany a set of Focal CMS 65 in a large room (5x10m) facebrick interior please?
I can cast the enclosure in aluminium or alu/mag alloy if it would make any sense.
Thanks

Hi I have a set of cms65 in a similar sized room paired with two bk200 subs. I have them crossed at 45 hz. I would recommend multi subs to improve integration and node issues, and cross them as low as you can.
The bk subs are very good value for their performance. With this set up I can get a fairly flat 20hz to 20khz in room response. I want for nothing!

Looks like your mains Focal CMS 65 rolloff ~@50Hz.
You will need a sub to complement that. Some links for info I used below.

Check (as a first research) if you have access to this drivers:
Scan Speak 21W/8555-00
Scan Speak 21W/8555-01
One is for a speaker ~60L (net), the other one smaller.
Also it helps to mention your resources, overseas or usually US (no flag member).

Thank you for your help.
I'm in South Africa and I have access to the Scan Speak 21W/8555-00 , but not the Scan Speak 21W/8555-01, would I need this one?

Hi 2wice,
I tested a Scan Speak 21W/8555-00 in a TL for about 7 years ago...Great Sound.
So far I've only found a simple saved drawing:

Thank you very much.
Will this 8" be enough as a sub to go with the Focals?
It does not need too loud.

Amazing project, I like that (driver + TL). 🙂
You will probably need EQ, I mean a Low pass or something, but I'm not the best person to ask (experience). This driver has a lot of information (output) above 100Hz and breakup above 1KHz that you don't need. A passive component crossover might not work in this case. What a Bandpass sub would take care of that, but if you go with the TL project, or other, you will need some tips of what to do to have some control in the frequency domain.

You will be using separate amp from the main speakers and adjust considering the need for a perfect match.

What do you mean (?), is more than enough...Will this 8" be enough as a sub to go with the Focals?

Hi Inductor
I was wondering if the 8" would be sufficient, compared to a 10" or 12" sub, but it seems like it would do the job nicely. Would the TL be a better idea than a sealed box? Seems like a pretty big box that.

Regarding your post, a BR enclosure would workout in more maneuverability (~60L net). I don't remember mentioning a sealed speaker. That would be a another project maybe a 10" or 12", yes. I don't like subs from Focal, they don't have a very good LF. Maybe is just the electronics or alignments. The drivers are in the most cases good or excellent.
