I have owned several projector mods, and started like many with the overhead /panel projects, however even with xga res on the proxima 920 and a 4000 lumens overhead, I was not satisfied with the intensity and brightness, which led to my current finished project,
Provided are a few pictures of the setup--
> Vintage Kodak carousel slide projector modified $ 4
> 2.5 inch lcd stripped from the
intec controller screen for ps2 (see pic) $ 25
> Ps2 to 2 rca audio and 2 video wire $ 8
RESULTS:
Overall I am very satisfied with the intesity, 300W halogen style bulbs which simply pop in and are the same as the overhead type !
The color and brightness are fully adjustable on the control board ! The picture looks excellent once the focus is ever so slightly "off" and any remaining screen door is diminished, the res for this panel is surprisingly high, hard to find the actual pixel count anywhere, but definately 235x300 or so as this lcd looks great at 45" diagonal but should not exceed 55" , Overall very pleased, Thanks to all for the many posts !!!

Just a footnote, this setup can accomadate any video game system, any dvd , vhs movie, with no macrovision issues (the secret enemy of early produced panels !) and plays cable tv like no ones business, nice !
Now I would not recomend this setup style for all you super xga types, yeah you know who you are, the never satisfied... anyway the res is great for the rest of us ! Leave some pics of your similar projects or let me know if you need questions answered...

Hello, If you are looking for the "intec" or the "hipgear" brand ps2 controller screen, try Kbtoys (24.99) Walmart (39.99 US only) or any video game re-seller store, Also the beauty of any smaller 2-3 inch lcd, even the portable tv type ( make sure its "tft" and high res) is that a carousel style projector can accomadate the panel and the control board mess once the lcd is stripped >
>>> My project consisted of stripping the lcd which has a delicately connected control board, speakers (removed), backlight (removed), another small control board with the "brightness", and "color", adjustment controls (important), and then opening the underside of the slide projector, and disabling any automatic lever moving operational sliding, noisy metal parts, Then with the new space simply insersting the lcd assembly inside the now upside down projector case - IMPORTANT, the lcd's horizontal and vertical arrangement must be considered before any placement into any slide proj is considered - that is when the lcd is inserted you focal lens from the slide proj will, FLIP and REVERSE your lcd image thus forcing you to insert the lcd just so that you see a correct image, ALSO, the 4corner alignment will need to be dead on ! that is , the alignment of the lcd will need to be parallel with the focus lens ! any tilt on any corner will cause focus problems, and this is the only "work" part of the project, I used a combination of cardboard, masking, and aluminum slides modified as tracks as a guide to KEEP THE LCD IN PLACE, once set the slide projector can be closed and become portable ! Nice little unit !

Any LCD panel is only as good as the > 1. Resolution > 2. Video input capabilty > 3. for me, Size, I did not want a large box in my lap as I watched movies with two other girls, the girls may get jealous and begin making out and I cant have juices get onto my projector , haha, anyway seriously - This 2.5 inch " intec " panel was EASY because once stripped from the ps2 controller only one cable was needed to make the lcd play ANY video signal, the cable is a 3end ( ps2, xbox, gamecube) connector and on the other end, 4 rca composites ( 2 audio, 2 video) this was a WALMART purchase and can be found anywhere, for 5-10 dollars , thus making this particular lcd compatible for ANYTHING, video games (obviously) dvd's vhs, cable, etc., Also, a portable tv screen with an 8th inch video input may actually be best if your interest is strictly movies

Hello, most lcd screens including this one, are powered with an A/C cord that plugs into the wall and also plugs into the LCD either directly or on the cord, it is really very simple to power the lcd units, generally the issue is not power, but signal, video signal for dvd movies, or video games or other computer monito video signals, etc. ,....
