I wondered if anyone here had a top tip for dealing with where a phono cable splits into the right and left channels.
If I'm soldering one from a length of double coax, it's easy enough to 'unzip' the cable to separate the two channels when putting on the connectors, but what do you experts do to prevent that 'unzipping' point pulling further down the cable?
If I were to cover the cable with some decorative braiding, or the cable has a single outer casing, how would I neaten up this bifurcation point?

An inch of heat shrink tubing will work. Of course, so will a zip tie, if appearance is not important.
Thanks for the thoughts. This forum is the bee's knees.
rayma - I have tried that in the past, but it's never held as well as I would like, and if the cable's subjected to a lot of handling it feels a bit flimsy to me. I tried the tie with a headphone cable once and it kept catching on my clothes!
Lingwendil - An example of the Internet being only as good as the search term. That's set me on the right track, thank you. I was struggling to come up with a title for this thread that was descriptive, and of course 'Y' was the letter that should have sprung to mind!
I see also some cunning methods of using two pieces of heatshrink with a hole cut in one of them...

Shrink Tube with glue / resin, so it doesn't move away.
I don't know if they make it with smaller diameters as it is usually intended for buried power cables or well pumps.

If you find one of these in the right diameter, it could be cut to length.
