No experience with that particular attenuator. However, 1.2 dB/step is sizable but may be OK. -40 dB is not enough attenuation for me. My preamp (with PGA2320 as volume control) frequently makes it below -40 dB.

Excellent results with the Goldpoint. Smooth and quiet operation. I also used the K&K version, but was getting pops during switching.
I just bought one of those attenuators of eBay last night... so we will see how it compares. Goldpoint and Dact are excellent.
I've been curious about those too.
Once posted on bottlehead forum and the following was recommended by someone, although i haven't tried it:

Don't forget Broskie's stepped attenuator at tubecad.com. He has a spendy version and an affordable version. The nice thing is that it functions as a balance control as well.

Yes, please let us know.
As probably others here, I have experience with Elma and Shallco. (The ebay item looks like neither.) Though they take time to d i y, I'm pleased to customize the results to my specifications. Nary a problem with Percy Audio.

I got one of those, with metalfilm resistors and it works great, although the switch itself is not really perfect, the shaft is unisolated which, at least in my case, can give a lot of hum when you adjust the volume, all depending on your chassis and construction.
