I haven't been on here in a long time, mainly due to school bull#&@*, but anyways got everthing in alittle over a year ago got it sounding great and then two weeks ago I woke up to find that my truck was missing the drivers side window and all my equipment was gone. That was the worst feeling in the world.
So I am starting over.
Got a Kenwood KDC-X689 headunit
Hifonics BX- 1205D (Insurance sent me a little better amp then I had)
Hifonics ZX-6400 (have not received it yet but maybe it will be upgraded to)
Kicker solobaric L5 2 ohm DVC
This time it is going in a little different:
Everything is being secured with nuts and bolts with some off the wall head pattern, and the sub box is going to be a down fire version of its former self.
But anyway sorry for taking up the web space just felt like venting alittle. Sucks when you get some thing made that your proud of then some #!@ hole decides that he would like to destroy it and leave you with nothing.

Now might be a good time to rethink your listening habits. Perhaps this isn't an issue, but normally when someone gets their system stolen it's because they listen to their music irresponsibly. If nobody knows you have anything other than stock, then they don't know to steal it, normally the people who get their systems stolen are the ones who have it cranked up at stop lights and around their home/work.
Securing the install will only go so far, even if they can't get it out (they probably still can, all they need is a drill), they'll still destroy everything you have out of spite. The best theft protection is a clean install that doesn't show off the equipment and responsible listening habits.

Yea i understand what you are saying.
The only thing that was visible by just looking at the inside of the truck was the subwoofer.
I understand the resposible listening thing to never listen to music loud at lights or near were i live thats just asking for trouble.
A car was broken into about two weeks before mine was and the girl had a stock stereo, another car was broken into down the street night befor last and it had the stock equipment in it. I think it is somebody doing it to get what ever they can out but get lucky sometimes and find a winner.
The lady at the window repair place said there were 200 break-ins the night my truck got hit.
Damn police in this town don't give a damn though, they will be the first to ticket the hell outta you but they don't like to help out when poeple are in trouble.

A friend of mine used to be really anal about turning down the music well before we got home..For a while I was confused as to why,untill he explained... "Good idea" I said..
Sometimes I even take it as far as to move new equipment out to the car at night -quietly,discreetly,and quickly.. Perhaps even go as far as to drive somewhere else to install/adjust it. -I don't trust some of my neighbors,and they've already had thier cars broken into nextdoor.
(-visible XM/Sirus antennas are guaranteed targets.)
Personally I'm not as concerned with the deck,or the amp,etc..it's the $$$ original glass,or lock,etc. they break out of my old Chevy to get it..
Fortunatly,that hasn't happened yet (And I'll try to keep it that way!)

It sounds like you live in a theft-prone neighborhood, it might be worth looking into a 2-way alarm system. They can bypass the siren or even the lights, but they can't bypass the remote that sends a signal to your keys telling you something is going on, at least not without a lot of time and effort. Even if nobody else knows they're breaking into your car, your keys will be going ape-**** and you'll know. Run out there with a baseball bat or a shotgun and they'll run away 😉

Plus can you mount the siren inside the cab of the vehicle or is there a law of somekind against that. FIgure if they don't cut the siren that even if nobody cares that it is going off, maybe it will be loud enough inside the truck for them to not want to be in there.

DEI makes good alarms, just about all of their sub-brands should be fine. The Clifford Matrix alarms get good reviews, I have a Python and it works well, just about any of them should be fine.

This is mostly useful on vehicles such as jeeps where the thief just has to stick their hand up under the dash; they hit the razor blades, and they stop pretty fast.
