What is the method of using stacked sheets of plywood called? Can this been done with MDF? I am thinking about trying out some curved cabinets and wanted to get some info on the building style.

Translam=Transverse Lamination.
It can be done with ply or MDF. In practise MDF tends to splitting more often.
Typically very wasteful of material, but an easy (in relative terms) way to create unusual shapes.
Requires thicker walls (at least with ply) as thematerial orientation does not play to the materials strength. MDF walls have to be thicker just because it is MDF

https://www.google.com/#q=bentwood+plywood+technique is an option for some simple curves like cylindrical enclosure sides
you could always do a carbon fiber skin over a skeleton with appropriate structural members.... The picture looks to be feasible with injection molded polymer or CNC cut wood product.(wasteful and un necessary)?
I would do 11ply-birch ply and solid hardwood skeleton /carbon fiber shell and beams (wrapped hardwood).
I am In fact planning a sub built this way for my truck...

The picture I had posted was just an example I found of a build on the fullrange section of the forum. I was just curious to what it was called so I could search some for examples of this style of enclosure. If I was to go this route I would also cut a second smaller enclosure from the centers of the bigger enclosure to reduce the waste. Thanks for identifying it for me though.
