Soundstream Rub1.2500 torrid help. Hot.

So I put back together a Rubicon amplifier and the output torrid gets very hot. Ok not one of the two. So if anyone has any ideas it would be most welcome. Is the torrid shorted. If I move it around no change in current. The amp draws 4.8amps of current. Should I change the drivers or the torrid? Should I use some thermal padding to the case?

Yes it does, slight movement and it dropped down to 3.45amps (removed and repaired) and the second torrid was just warm. I applied some of the blue silicone sheet to the bottom cover to transfer the heat throughout the bottom cover. Should help.

You need to check the waveform where the two inductors connect. The amplitude of the waveform should be 1/2 of the amplitude at the output FETs (rail-rail square wave). You need to twist the inductors to make sure that that 1/2 amplitude never changes.

Are both fans running smoothly (no vibration)?

Twisting/pushing/pulling makes/breaks intermittent connections. You only need to move it very slightly, generally. None of the fixatives are infinitely rigid. For those amps that do use a VERY rigid fixative, intermittent connections aren't generally a problem because it won't allow enough movement allow the insulation to wear through and short.

Yes 1/2 is all ok. And no the fans needed to be adjusted properly as well. I was reading in the guide more on switching torrids or building new one's. I need to study more on this and determine how to remake and replace torrids like this with a more relaible replacement. Just now scratching the surface.
