OK so that answers that. I bet they used TO-220 cases.
BTW not to prod on anybodys previous argument, but there seems to be several data sheet versions of the TIP142/147 in terms of SOA. Theres the TO-220, TO-218, and TO-247 data sheets for these. Each seem to have slightly different SOA, especially the TO-218 which may be higher rated than even the TIP102/107s with TO-220 package.
Likely only the TO-220 package would fit anyway.
I'm going to try and stay away from TIP142/147 setups. Just a personal decision.

These amplifiers use the 'T' suffix parts. They only come in one package style and there is only one data sheet to pay attention to. Ie.
