For sometime, I have been using the Tent and Euroquartz XOs with various very low noisr power supplies (5nV/sqrtHz to 50nV/sqrtHz).
These units improved sound quality but I was looking for fast, low phase noise units with symmetrical waveforms.
Found some Valpey-Fisher high spec units with 1 sigma phase noise specs of 1 ps. These really make a difference and improved considerably on previous XOs I have used.
Timing of music is better; better balance bewteen bass and treble; improved clarity and makes CD much more acceptable.
Anyone with similar experience?

Would be great if you could tell us the type number and where and how to get into the possession of these Valpey-Fisher XO's.
In my experience the symmetry of the waveform has very little influence on the sound.
Power supply does, and also the compatibility of the supply with the circuit used.

Not worth buying low spec stuff for diy purposes.
Those were 50ppm I believe. Stability is really meaningless in this application. I got my quote direct from Valpey Fisher.

How do they sound to you? For a few dollars more, may as well get the best. I think symmetry should matter as the pulses define the trigger points. Mine have duty cycles within 1%! The best I have seen.

My thought too. My CD player even plays on a series of glitches when I misadjust the duty cycle. No difference in sound though.
