i have experenced that my sound card does not give me identical signals on both channels... i experience a "bass" coloured sound on the right channel while a "trebble" coloured sound on the left.... is this correct?

i wired it in this manner... tip sleeve > left channel... middle sleeve > right... last sleeve common ground... is this correct?

Hi hacknet

Have you tried playing around with the software settings - for instance the tone control in the Windows mixer? Maybe your card has individual tone control for each channel. Is there any proprietary software sitting around that looks likely to control this sort of feature? Does your hearing or headphones / speakers have an inbalance?

Have a good Christmas!
Tim

BTW - The terminology you want for the jack plug is just "tip", "ring", and "sleeve". Otherwise, the wiring configuration you describe is correct.
