Hiya folks
I just returned from the trash dump and scored this TV while I was there from an older gentleman.He stated that he saw lines in the picture,star patterns.etc. The shop wanted too much to repair it. So I grabbed it. I know from experience that the 2004 model WEGA RPTV's had an inherent defect with UV rays destroying the LCD Panels.
So theres no point in going any further with this set.Ive been looking for this type of TV for quite some time,with hopes of tearing the guts out of it and somehow mounting an LCD panel inside and reflecting it thru the mirror with a backlight so I could have a Kick A$$ 50" monitor. Im going into this project with both feet.I figure I can pick up a 5" or ever a 6" LCD Panel on ebay for peanuts.So heck,why not give this a try? A Little about my background. Im 24 years into the audio/video repair feild. I can walk a dog through just about any amp. receiver,TV,DVD Player. No Problem however, I have absolutely NO experience with optics.I could use a hand (or two) if possible.Hopefully this thread will take off Now the question of the day. Has anyone else here did this already? Had success,complete failure?
Maybe we can swap notes and come up with something.
