I had the ealier version the XA777ES. It is very high quality. SACD sound is unbelievable on it. For CD it is very good. It does tend to be analytical and accurate. At times I wanted it to have more depth and impact. I ended up selling it and getting a Marantz 8260 (which is great for CD but not as good at SACD). I still wonder if I made the right choice. If your system tends to be on the bright side I would go for it.
