I was quite taken by surprise by the battlebots thing. A friend has some surplus wheel-chair motors i'm helping him liquidate on ebay.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

A potential buyer suggested we add battlebot to the auction somewhere. They have been heading out in multiple pairs for duty in these things ever since. One fellow said he had suggested to his daughter that they might build one, she quickly made it a done deal and he was "forced" to buy a set.

I can see it now...

You know what's going to happen, don't you? These two wonderful young girls will grow up to become electronics engineers, and good ones too, judging by their activities in the pics. Then they will be conned into having their photos on the front cover of some glossy advertising blurb for the purpose of inducing naive and nerdy young men into careers in electronics. Jobs are not always portrayed as they are in the real world. 🙁
