I found soft start kit that is available locally here in Serbia and uses Atmel U2008B "low cost phase control with soft start" IC. Is it good for audio power amplifiers?
I do not have schematics but is seems that it is the same circuit from the page 1 of IC data sheet.

I's say no. There's always a resistance and thyristor in series with the load (amp) and ground, causing heat and a potential above ground. And I wouldn't subject my transformer's primary to a cut-off sine-wave for softstart purposes. It looks more suited for motor and lighting control.
