In lieu of a soft start circuit such as Rod Elliots with the X2 cap, diodes, and 5w resistors is this a viable alternative?
Add a 2nd power switch. Main power switch applies power to transformer and rectifier board/caps and the 2nd switch would control VCC and VEE between amp board and rectifier board w/supply caps DC out..or should the 2nd switch be placed between the transfo secondaries and bridge rectifier..thanks!

yes, that is a sound plan at an extra cost of switch, and that will work...
but use the second switch to switch out the first switch in series with the soft start resistor...i hope you got my drift....😉
switching dc is not a good idea...
