Hello!
A while ago I bought an SMSL A2 amplifier from Massdrop. It was super cheap and fit perfectly on my desktop instead of a full-size stereo amplifier. Using it for a pair of CSS EL70 4" full-range drivers with pretty low sensitivity.
My problem is that the amplifier has some background noise even if it is on or off. When off it is barely audible but once it's on it's quite annoying.
I'm using an Objective O2 headphone amp with 0x gain as pre-amp and an Objective ODAC DAC. That combo is completely dead silent so I know that's not the troublemaker here.
What could be causing the background hiss? Is there any solution to it? Swap out some parts? Insulate some parts? I don't have any schematics but I'm not afraid of opening the case and getting some pictures if you need.

Make sure all your cables are not touching any other power cables.
Also check for a ground loop, which is exactly what I'm about to do. My A2 does not experience problems of ground loop, but it seems the PE 7492 board is getting some noise, so I'm going to change outlets to the same power strip my computer runs off of in hopes of breaking the loop.
I like my a2, although I think the power supply that comes with it may actually be rated lower than they say.
Good Luck!
