Small satellite speakers

I would go a smidge bigger than 3 litres - your initial 3.5 would be ideal. Then use them fairly close to a rear wall and with your sub the blend will be seamless and the result beautiful.

On their own you'll see about 80Hz which is surprisingly acceptable as long as you aren't a midi flashing light hifi fan.

I have a budget of about £200 and cant have the speakers any bigger than 200hx130wx130d for left and right and 120hx270wx130 for the centre any help would be great

cheers

200*130*130. is it mm and outside dimensions? That will give you less than 1,5 liter and nothing near the 3,5 liters mentioned above

I honestly don't know what those size figures are in inches, but here's a project with relatively small size compare to other speakers.

A bit low in efficiency but will actually go lower than most other small satellites about the same size. Definitely cheaper than the Jordans as well.

Personally I am a big fan of the JX92S. I found their imaging and coherence like nothing I had experienced before, even though I have decent Kef Uni-Q drivers in my usual speakers. The bass from them is also very tuneful.

They can sound a touch bright and if you start cranking them on some female vocals it can get a bit hard sounding, but I think that's just pushing them too far. And you do have to crank them a fair bit to get like that.

It comes down to what your tastes are and what you look for in a speaker. I ignore ratings in magazines especially What Hi-Fi as I have found them largely to be pretty random in what they recommend.
