I was watching "Cops" tonight, and I saw a dude get arrested with a stolen TL in his SUV. It was a simple TL, but the woofer had "shaker" written on it.
I'm familiar with the Aura shaker, but I didn't know you put it in a fat tube.
What's the skinny on that?

Dave:
I honestly don't know "the skinny on that", but whether you realize it or not, you have just confirmed your status as an Audio Fanatic.
If this is like most episodes of "Cops", you probably just witnessed the guy shoot up half the neighborhood, drive over the lawns and through the backyards of dozens of houses and when he gets cornered and led away by the police, instead of breathing a sigh of relief, you are checking out the configuration of the Transmission Line in his stolen vehicle! 😱 😱
Welcome to the club. 😉

I don't think it was an Aura shaker. There is a cheap line of automotive speakers called shaker, they have shaker written across the dustcap. The Aura shaker is not meant to produce any sound, just vibrations.
Oh, dear...😱
I missed the rest of the episode 'cos I was searching the net for this "shaker" TL. Obviously a subwoofer...
My dear bride just sighs.🙄

Ah! OK. That's what I thought. I couldn't figure that the Aura shaker would actually make a speaker somehow. I also couldn't figure that they wouldn't trademark it so that some shmoe company would use it on the dustcap.
Thanks.
Dave
Well, it may not have been. The woofer was mounted in the end of a fat tube. The tube was laid out on the back seat of a big SUV, and it appeared to stretch to either end of the seat. I'm assuming it was a tube type TL, but maybe it wasn't.
I was simply taken by the "shaker" insignia. It was only a glimpse I caught while the guy was being arrested.

Bazooka has a famous line of auto subs like that, but they are Bass Reflex. Also Hsu made tube type subs using the Bass Reflex principle-Hsu is considered very high quality for the home. Bazooka is pretty much for the car, where they have a good rep.
