Simple question about the Usher 9950-20 tweeter

This is my Usher 9950-20 pair:

I just realized that this tweeter normally isn't supposed to have a metal grill covering the dome but mine does. I know the almost identical-looking Dayton Audio RS28F-4 does have it and they're supposed to be made by Usher too, but I'm also aware of the differences in their measured performances, specifically the lower frequency capability of the Daytons.

Any idea what's going on here? I got my pair straight from Usher Taiwan by the way. I'm not sure if I have a rare 9950-20 pair here 🙂

True, that's the way to go but I really don't want to bother. I purchased these from Usher Taiwan 3-4 years ago. They sound great and have protection on top of that. That's all that matters 🙂

I don't get it? If sounding great is all that matters, and they do according to you, then why ask the question? I'm sure Usher manufactured tweeters in all kinds of configurations for themselves and other vendors, some with grills and some with out.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, there's not only one version of this tweeter. I was just curious if someone was knowledgeable enough to know exactly what the deal was cause I don't. But yeah, that was my guess too since they manufacture OEM products for other companies. It really was just a curiousity.
