Simple curve-tracer published around 1980. Uses mostly readily-available-in-2016 parts. The uA759 is a 300mA power amplifier, we can find something like that. The NPN-PNP switching has rather a lot of poles, but in fact it may be handy to put the "base" switching on a separate switch to allow use with depletion-mode devices (JFETs, vacuum tubes). S1 allows for pen-plotters; omit R1, make R2 200K permanently, make C1 0.005uFd for CRO-only use.

Better for "quick shape" than precision measurement. Some minor "flaws" which could be overlooked or gradually modded-out.

Yes, I think the paste-up for the 2N3053 plot slipped on the press camera.
