Simple clip led circuit.
If the input voltage goes above B+ minus 6 volts (ish) the clip LED comes on.

clip indicators are used to notify the operator that the amp is on its 100% driven ( at least ) fair enough so far
but if your amplifier has a 2ohm load conected ( let us suppose by accident ) then by the time you see the above clip led bliniking its going to be way too late for your speakers and your amplifier .....

I was thinking of doing something like this. If outputs are as robust as supply, couldn't sensing be between output volts and rail volts. If they get too close LED lights? Need to add a delay so they stay lit long enough to see.

It was just intended as a simple circuit for normal use not a fix for every possibility.
Its pretty easy to put a voltage sense across a source resistor and drive an LED from it if you want to sense current.
I have moved on and done a bargraph display using a PIC micro now.
The lower LEd's are green and the top LED is red to show clipping.
a voltage meter in the output of any amp is not a clip detector .....
if in your amp ( any ) there is no VI limmiter and the output is free and your load is too reactive or deeps to low in resistance at certain frequency ...then the reading you get from this is not corect .... also the information that it gives you is not usable
