How about a nice simple good quality amplifier, based on easily obtainable, economical, minimal components, complete with power supply and tone controls, (and possibly a phono pre-amp as well).
A downloadable PCB layout and overlay/drilling template would be a bonus.
This would be a sort-of "build-by-the-numbers" / "join-the-dots" type project to enliven interest in the newcomer in this field
I'm thinking of the guys who would love to build his own kit but is afraid of things going "pear-shaped".
Any views on this subject

You've pretty much described every chipamp design I've seen. Some vendors also include power supply boards with the amplifier boards. So, the only thing new here is the addition of tone controls and possibly a phono preamp.
Just my opinion, but I don't think there is a lot of demand for tone controls. And a phono preamp is a whole separate beast. I predict not a lot of interest in combining a phono preamp with a chipamp. There might be some interest in combining a DAC with a chipamp, which can use the same power supply. People could use it to run desktop speakers from their computer.
I'm curious to see what other people's opinions are.

There is a Very large base of information on this site referencing the application of Chip Amps. I look forward to your research and distillation of all the information to arrive at a solution. It seems that the best work is done by those who have defined the need. We will appreciate your hard work.

PCB aren't cheap but the parts chosen are quite cheap. Only things missing are a power supply for the amp and some switches.
mm i think the OP wanted to find out if there was any interest for a kit that has ALL functonality.
surely, anyone can find a preamp, a tone controll, a power amp, a whatever and so on.
but there is no kit that would include on a single pcb the tone controll, along with the poweramp and the powersupply circuit.
just add a traffo and Your off to go solution.
while it MAY seem useless, i'm getting it.
grounding issues are not uncommon, and tone controlls can mess things up pretty badly..
How's about...
-> input goes to opamp
-> passive tone controlls (bass,treble, volume knobs)
-> buffer opamp (take advantage of double/quad opamp packages)
-> chipamp (probably the usual LM38XXXX)
naturaly the opamp power circuit would be regulated.
if the whole thing is on a single pcb, then proper grounding can be implented reducing the number of problems the newcommer DIYers may face.
most probably it should be packed with anti-oscillation features, as key point would be to make sure it works rock solid.

the el-cheapoo variant could utilise TDA car radio amplifier with the same frontend.
cheapoo, as it could be made to utilise an computer psu.
not the best for the quality, but surely pc psu is one of the cheapest source of power 😀
and those chips do run quite well from 12 volts. (its btl. not too mutch power, but enough for home application)

One thing I'd change though, and that would be to do Doug Self's tone controls rather than passive. I think the reasoning is unimpeachable, and you get a proper tone-defeat at the centre. I think that's important for someone who isn't necessarily going to understand the innards.
Cheapos could have TLO-72s (or 71s). Problem is that one could take this design anywhere. For instance if you are going to btl for 12V, then you're already on the way to a really good amp. Where does one stop?

i hav tda 2030, +/-12v 10w 8ohm woofer with 2.1 config hav freq resp 20hz-200hz.
i am loking for pre amp with summing op amp for 35hz-200hz freq resp, with 1.7dB gain & 40hz-70hz with 2.2dB gain.
above 2.5dB gain the tda ic heats faster i tryed it with ua741,simple gain formula A=Rf/Ri.
