Is this the kind of stuff that you would use to fill 'slack-space' (for instance under large capacitors 'hanging' on their connection wires)?

No need to go that expensive. Just buy a tube of ordinary bathroom silicone from your nearest diy barn/builders merchant.

Any of these Silicone Sealants - Bison. What would you use?
Hi.
I use this:
Soluciones Automotrices : LOCTITE Silicona RTV Roja
This silicone adheres better than the standard (tested), better withstands temperature changes, acids, etc. This does not smell of acid, neutral looks. After opening the tube, lasts longer than standard silicone. It's cheap (like a large standard silicone tube) because it has a small amount of product (70ml), but is sufficient for many applications. I previously used a large tube of bathroom silicone standard, but within months had to get rid of big open tube. In the end, no savings with standard silicon because it is cheaper for the amount. And the red is better.
In my country, sold in hardware stores.
(sorry for my poor English)
Best regards,
Francisco
