I see alot of ppl selling their projection panels to get DLPs,Im wondering should i join them....?..? ! well if I DO sell my panel I cant get a dlp at tis time, maybe i can get 14' norcent monitor..
I havent seen anyone who sold their monitor for a DLP maybe projection panels are obselete (in the DIY community) or getting there.
I have a Sharp Qa-1200 VGA 1.7 mil 150:1 ratio
the norcent is 250:1 is that a big difference?
and there was a post by someone saying that prj panels arent worth it and you shouldnt buy them.
well since there havent been any good discussions lately im hoping we can get some good ideas and thoughts here!

humm personally Id wait, let prices drop, I was told on Tech tv that lcd and plasma will drop in the next 5-10 months by 50% and I have no reason for them to lie about that( they arnt selling anything). So If I was you Id wait, the market for projection panels will still be there and you wont have to spend as much on a lcd monitor. Just my thoughts.
Thanks for the info VF, i'll take your advice and wait.
but the discussion is still open i'd liek to know what everyone thinks about Projection panels.

It seems like projection panels are just easier since they are built for overhead projection. Otherwise, I think if you can get a dlp for a good price and have the time to make it useable then I say go for it!
Negative design, Im not in any position to tell you what to do even if I was, you probally wont listen anyway
. Here is what I think, if you really want a better lcd for your project or go into commercial stuff, in my opinion sell those lcd panels that you think will be obsolete soon while its still hot or worth something.
Save that money for something nicer you will be much happier! My 2 cents

I only have one panel, and i plan to sell it when the prices for LCD monitors go down.
Video Freak, whats the website for tech tv? techtv.com?? i presume..
and you said it will go down about 50% can you speculate what you think the prices will be for an xga monitor.it would be GREAT if ppl can get monitors for 99$ but i dont think it will go that low though.

yea the website is techtv.com, Well they said 50 % so I figure that whenever a 15 lcd monitor is 120 ish range, thats not 50% less but a lot less then they cost now, I will buy a lcd monitor, Even PC prices in the past year have dropped tons, and for that matter lcd monitor prices last year were much higher then they are now, so who knows. I know I have My panel and am lovin it and for now this panel = free and a lcd monitor would = more money LOL so Im stickin to my panel
well I did have a telex m2x panel But I sold Him to a firiend and hes found a good home, Now Im using a nview z310 with a VGA to video converter and am lovin it. Even though I had to buy a seperate video to vga converter this panel KICKS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ummmmmmmm Butt. My telex was a great panel also, My friend enjoys playing video games on it, he has xbox PS2 gamecube and im sure as soon as PS3 comes out in a few years hes gonna have that also. I think we all just get greedy and want more more more and better etc. I will sell this panel as soon as monitors go LOWERRRRRRRR.
