It's running fine, gets warm but not hot at all. but there is a slight burning smell. is that normal?
if all crucial measurements are OK, no reason for worry
so, did you made them?
including observation of temperatures at heatsink, vs. temperature of T-bar, vs. temperature of VFet cans itself
use contact meter, not IR gun
or just blame inclusion of funny mushrooms powder, when packing at SR was done

Yes, mine is also a bit smelly, but it runs very well for months now. I think it is the resistors in the power supply that getting hot...
In my amp too the power supply resistors smell a little bit for the first couple of hours. Now it’s fine
My space heater has a smell similar to my VFET, which I assume means it’s Class A.
Yep are the green resistor on relays board , plus heathing the caps a lot ....one big metal body on heatsink can solve all problemIt's running fine, gets warm but not hot at all. but there is a slight burning smell. is that normal?
I had a little bit of that as well, and thought it might have been from the rosin in the solder.
Or perhaps it was the sweet smell of success. 🙂

If it is hot enough for you to smell it, you should be able to feel it pretty easily. I am too curious, I would probably have burned my fingertips before I even got a chance to make a thread about it.
just put a finger on caps 48/50 CI ordered an inexpensive thermometer, the thermocouple type. should be here in a few weeks.
