Hi,
I accidentally shorted a +5V contact to ground on my Sony DVP-NC650V CD/SACD/DVD player (while it was turned on.) It immediately shut off and now won't turn on again.
Any ideas whether it can be fixed? The service manual/schematics can be downloaded here.
This diagram shows the part I shorted: on part RY201 (slightly to the right of center), I accidentally touched contacts #1 and #12 to ground. Contact #12 is +5V.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Easiest way is to stick an ohmmeter across it. If it shows zero ohms or something close to that, the fuse is OK and you have more serious problems. If the meter shows an open circuit, the fuse should be replaced. Fuses are cheap.
Just measured, the fuse is OK (0 ohms across it). I'm going to desolder the switch I had attached (that caused the short) in a moment and see if anything happens. Unlikely, since turning it off didn't help...
Desoldering the add-on switch didn't help. Time for more ideas... what else could get destroyed to prevent power-up?
OK, I removed the RY201 part and that didn't help, either. It just won't power on. Looks like serious trouble
