Shoelaces

So I once had a pair of shoes who's laces lasted as long as the shoes..in perfect condition, no fraying at all. I think back on them from time to time, like when a pair needs REPLACING! I've asked around at shoe stores but nobody seems to be able to identify the material they were probably made of.

any guesses?

Send one to me, I'll burn a piece a let you know by the fumes 🙂
I actually thought twice about throwing them away with the shoes.
Polyester maybe? Shoe laces are pretty easy to replace.

Sure but I rarely change them before one breaks and get used to a shorter one or tied back together for a while. Then to make matters worse, the other one breaks. :headbash:

Interesting. Aerospace shoelaces. About as close as NASA came to actually landi..., but I digress. I use older shoes for work as I'm a small contractor in the drywall business so those shoes were seriously worn out when I threw them out and the laces were truly still like new except for being twirled up between the eyelets.

I’ve worn military surplus boots since age 10 (started with vietnam era jungle boots to currently the desert storm version of the same)
never have I worn out a set of laces (boots avg. 2-3 yrs lifespan with 2 pairs in rotation) and they have gone through just about every imaginable torture.
Rothco lists them as made from polyamide. They sell replacements cheap if anyone wants to try them.

The shoes I buy come with cotton laces. They stay tied, and I do prefer cotton. And they shouldn't be too long nor too short.
They come with my new shoes, but trying to replace them seems like an impossibility 🙁

Always be good to your feet. Try not to skimp on foot ware. Or pay for it later while often repeating dam these aching feet.

I bought a pair of Saloman Goretex lined (French but made in China) boots. The laces are the best I've ever known, no sign of wear and I've always double tied laces so they never come undone. The boots have lasted years of lots of walking and that includes much off road use.

Talking of laces - at a museum in London a public school educated female moron employed by the museum placed a big Ming era vase at the bottom of a staircase and a male moron visitor who only tied his shoelaces once had them come undone tripped over one of the shoelaces and went **** over tip down the staircase completely destroying the Ming vase. the idiot cursed his shoelaces instead of himself - neither the public school female moron or the moron visitor was made to re-imburse the museum.

Most likely it was army or nylon laces! And Nasa space boots have a long service life)))

These are good. However, not foolproof (ha!) or abrasion proof, I have gone through a couple sets over the years. You should see the trouble areas (chafing or discoloration) well before they fail though.
