Shielding the Betsy K Magnet

You could probably add some shielding, but it would mess with the parameters. I don't know anyone that has tried it on the BetsyK, but I bet there are several pertinent threads on DIYA somewhere. However, I'd try it first. I have a pair of BetsyK's that have been sitting almost exactly two feet from my desktop CRT for months. They don't seem to have any effect. I've accidentally set them inside one foot, and that definitely makes a difference! I suspect you'll be fine.

........ within two feet of a CRT TV.

should not be any radiation problems with that distance

shielding is often done with mounted a magnet on back poleplate, with reversed polarity, so it repells the poleplate
when it touches the iron it sticks
but not enough to be secure
apply some glue around all edges

might lower Qts a bit, but not much
but it does 'help' to magnitise back poleplate better
which could be welcome as it has more iron than front poleplate

I was thinking that the T/S parameters would be altered. I'll try setting them as far apart as possible from the TV.

I'm aware of the bucking magnet approach. It's either Seas or ScanSpeak that sells them separately for its drivers.
