SEAS Lotus automotive subwoofer for home use build

I have two of these rare drivers laying around and figured why not use them for a home application. Seas recommended about 1.00-1.50 cubic feet sealed for this driver in a car environment and I guess yeah with the added cabin gain one could benefit from in a vehicle allows for decent results even though the QTC probably is 1.00 or such. This kind of enclosure for home however leaves one with a choked and restricted output due to the internal resistance of the small enclosure.

Plotting with the specs of this driver to acheive a .707 QTC however point towards a relatively large enclosure even for a sealed application at around 3.5 cubic feet😱. I went with 2.8 cubic feet sealed which comes in at a Q of around 0.75. The result is a pretty impressive combination being driven with a 500 watt class AB amp. I only have a 12 DB LPF so I have it crossed over fairly low at about 40 HZ to cut down on localization. It digs deep on movies like Interstellar which Im guessing has to be content in the mid 20's hertz wise. Im pretty satisfied with it and will be building a second one. Cabinet is .75 inch plywood with 1 inch solid walnut face finished with Danish oil. Thanks for looking and keep on rocking!

Thank you for the recognition! I go between active and passive at times. Sometimes maybe for a month I will use passive crossovers and then change to using a minidsp 2x4hd and power everything with a separate channel. The zapco is an old school 1000.4 reference and yep Im just using the front channels 150x2 for left/right to the towers and the rear channels bridged to the sub 500x1. You cant see it but there is ARC audio 4150 xxk in the rack also not being used. The preamp is an old school Onkyo from the early 90's made in Japan [great gear from that era]. The front face of the towers is a solid hardwood called ambrosia maple. I like the Be domes alot. Very smooth with great extension although the nextel cones as good as they are do not quite have the detail of the magnesium cones. Thats ok its still a very revealing driver.

I built the table as well. Its solid walnut. Ive got build pics for it also. Will be building a very capable center channel soon with nextel drivers bit will be using two w22, a w15 midrange, and the tweeter will be likely a crescendo. Hey man thanks again for looking.
