SEAS L26ROY + SEAS SL26R

Hi Guys,

I've been wanting to supplement my Small Thors with a subwoofer for some time now as I feel that they leave something to be desired on the low end. I picked up an L26ROY and the SL26R passive radiator per recommendation of one of the guys over at Madisound and am trying to figure a few things out.

Setup: Marantz SR5005, SEAS Small Thors

Subwoofer Hardware: SEAS L26ROY, SEAS SL26R, BASH 300W Digital Plate Amp

Objective: I'd like to have tight, clean bass for movies. Ideally, I'd like it to go as low as possible without distortion.

I guess my main question is, for the application that I want to use it for, should I even be using the passive radiator?

My second question would be about box design. If it turns out that I should be using the passive radiator, SEAS calls for a 1.42ft3 sealed box. What would be the best dimensions for me to use and where should I mount the driver and passive radiator?

If it is more beneficial for me not to use the passive radiator, should I go sealed or vented?

For just the driver without passive radiator, Madisound's site says the following: "1.5 to 2.0 cubic feet with 3" diameter vent by 12" long for an F3 of 32 to 30Hz"

Can anyone offer any advice?

Sorry for the confusing post with so many questions. Topic development was never my strong point.

Thanks,
Ben
