So this morning I'm listening to the newly acquired CD Maroon5, Songs about Jane. Because the rest of the familiy is still asleep I'm using a headphone.
Much to my surprise on track 4 (She will be loved) i'm hearing scratches like from a LP. The clicks and noises appear randomly, so I'm pretty sure its not intentional. The disc itself is new and clean. I'm playing the disc on a Pioneer DV 565 (563).
Does anyone hear it on their copy too or should I return it and get another one?
Later today I'll try to rip it to my harddisc and listen if the scratches appear on the copy as well. It is one of those Copy Controlled discs
so I hope it will behave nice with EAC.

Mine is ok, definately a bad copy. This happened on a new disc? The vendor should swap it out for an identical title.
The scratching noise is usually me scratching my head, trying to work out why people like Maroon 5
Your CD is fine, I hear the exact thing on both my speakers and headphones. Some artists like to introduce noise into their recordings like that. I don't like it all but what can you do... I guess they think it sounds cool 😕

My wifes C.D. has the record scratching effects too and the vocals are distorted also.
Now we know it is not just our copy.
Thanks.

I think you should get a new stereo 🙂 There are definitely old-venyl-record ticks in this track. Quite obvious in the first few seconds of the recording.

I remember thinking that my stylus was broken when I first heard the off tune radio effects on Wish You Were Here
Cheers for that Johan
David -ever heard the quadraphonic release of WYWH? 😀 (and a very good example of Quad done well) When I first did I had a similar reaction. But it wasn't -I was just hearing further into the mix. Total madness.
