Has anyone had experience with both the Scanspeak 10F/8424G (or 4424G) and the 12MU? I'm wondering what kind of improvement would be had with the 12MU for midrange quality if used for 300-2000Hz.
Thanks

Why do you assume anyone claiming to have the experience you're
looking for would be able to give you an objective assessment of the
findings? Don't you know that people are highly subjective when it
comes to justifying their investment and that they rarely conduct
appropriate objective evaluation, filtering away personal bias?
Let me give you a piece of advice. If you're really into exploring
high end stuff, just get it and enjoy whatever the outcome.

@lojzek, your reply doesn't seem very helpful.
He asked for experience, that could include objective data to evaluate. It's not logical to completely discount subjective or qualitative feedback either, we are using human ears to listen to human music after all.
Your last line also seems to discount that the OP deserves a better outcome of it exists.

Are you planning a 1st order electrical crossover at 2kHz for which a 4" midrange with smooth high frequency extension is required?
For 2nd and 3rd order acoustic slope 2kHz crossovers, you can also consider a 5" midrange like the new/coming medium cost Satori MR13P. A 5" could simplify your 300Hz crossover plus increase the 300Hz max SPL.
The 10F-8424g has Xmax = 2.6mm, which models to have a 100db SPL limit at 300Hz. The MR13P and 12MU4731t have ~1mm extra Xmax for relaxed 300Hz transients.
I have listened to speakers with the 12MU4731t and RAAL 70-20XR and was very impressed with the sound, but I never listened to a 10F-8424g speaker.
---------------
Study the motors, venting, cone resonances, surround and suspension resonances, datasheets.....a "cost is no object" design with the 12MU4731t should sound better than a "cost is no object" design with the 10F-8424g. How will your room affect the sound?

I haven't heard much about the 12MU, kinda got the impression that the 10F was the class leader.
Erin from Diyma did a thorough review of the 10F here : http://medleysmusings.com/10f8414g10/
Maybe I need to take back what I said about the 12MU. Beolab 90 is the best speaker I've ever heard, and it looks like that's what they use:

I like the rising response of the 10F and the rising response of any driver with a rising response, good for a full ranger, a mid woofer, and also for a tweeter, but... for a pure midranger?🙄

His mesasurements of 12MU look good to my old eyes!
