Sayett Mediashow

Got a Sayett (Kodak) Mediashow LCD projector off eBay, that sort of works. It displays a configuration screen, then colour bars and has no reaction to any input signals on any of the ports - tried CGA, EGA, VGA and Mac outputs from various computers, but no luck. The box has four DB connectors - two DB-15, one DB-9, one HD-15. Does anyone know whether this beast needs a controller plugged in to one of the ports? Maybe one of the DB-15s?

After lots of fiddling around with cables, I opened the box up to find it uses a 10.4" LCD panel, bulbs, freznel and the usual lenses to focus. The projector has a sweet little automatic bulb change device - it has two bulbs, a motorised carousel and a current detector circuit that checks for bulb current and rotates the carousel if the bulb burns out.

I wanted to use it for PC gaming, but now that I can't get it to respond, maybe I want to put some effort into it and make it useable with my DVD player's S-Video inputs. Would it be worthwhile picking up a projection panel off eBay and swapping out the existing LCD with one from a panel? It seems a waste to throw away all the good mirrors, lenses and cabinetry.
