Hi
I have a Samick SMP-4000 which someone lent me to have a look at, they'd given it on extended loan to a band they used to play in and it came back trashed.
When I first powered it up I got signal through the left channel only, heavily distorted, and after about 3 seconds it stopped and the red "Protect" led came on. Whenever I turn the amp on now the led just stays on and there's no response from the amp.
I've looked round the internet and can't find a manual for this amp, there doesn't seem to be anything on the Samick site about it. Does anyone have a manual, know what's up with it, or even know what the Protect led means on this amp?
Cheers, Tom.

Sorry but I do not have the manual for this amp, however as to my earlier knowledge with Samick amps, you got a problem in the output stage (which I recall seems to be a common problem), resulting in DC on the output.
Try disconnect the output devices and power it up again and do a few meassurements around the driver stage..............
